3.5 stars. This book was ok. Aside from a few typos (such as 'this' instead of 'his'), there was technically nothing wrong; all the pieces for a romantic story were there. However, for me, something was lacking. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe not enough of a backstory for the characters? Not enough of slow burn steam with each of the brothers? The sexytimes definitely weren't as steamy and involved as her other books. The story left some unanswered questions; why did her father hate them? Why was Scott so standoffish? I had a few other questions, but they would be spoilers. If this is your first time reading a Stephanie Brother book, this is a good read. But, if you're a fan of her Beast and Huge series, this book is not as emotionally or physically involved or as sexy. Hard 5 is a reverse harem featuring 5 sinfully, sexy ranchers and 1 innocent girl who has lost all that she held dear to her heart.Melanie’s Pa passes away leaving behind the family farm, Coopers Cottage, and some serious gambling debts. With no other family, Melanie is forced to sell the farm at auction to cover the debts, leaving her destitute.In walks the Bradford brothers. Hot as hell, triplets Cash, Colt, and Cary, and twins, Sawyer and Scott, are strong, sexy, and have so much to offer the right woman. They purchase Coopers Cottage as they continue to expand their own lands.As fate would have it, the morning after the sale, Melanie is discovered by the brothers, sleeping in their newly acquired barn. She’s offered a job that includes room and board, which she agrees to on a trial basis, but these fine men are wanting something more.This was a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. The characters were personable and it was so easy to relate to them on various levels. Melanie, for example, was strong, sweet, and innocent. Watching her develop from someone who could have easily floundered in her own adversity, grow into womanhood with the love of 5 men was absolutely beautiful.The sexy guys definitely brought the heat in this book. Their personalities were so different, man of few words, the injured soul, the lighthearted, just to name a few. They were all hard working, loving and loyal and they each brought something special.The ups and downs of their journey together was well written. The country vibe was spot on. This book made me laugh, cry, and most certainly brought lots of sizzle.
